Ohio: Enjoy the flexibility of digital learning
Ohio high school students can now enroll in National Connections Academy online Advanced Placement courses for free through the OhioLearns program. The state of Ohio recently approved making part-time AP courses available through a state-level catalog of distance learning options.
Currently, OhioLearns offers select National Connections Academy AP courses, and Ohio public school students may apply to the state for a course fee waiver, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The student's local school must approve the course and waiver request. One waiver is available per student (which covers either a semester or year-long course).
To qualify for a waiver:
- The student must be currently enrolled in a public school
- Public school personnel must pre-register the student
- The student must have completed any course prerequisites
- The student must be capable of handling the requirements of an online course
- The student must be pre-registered for an advanced placement course through the OhioLearns catalog
- The public school must agree to accept the grade and credit for the course
- The school must identify a contact person
