Ovid Elsie Schools Announces Newest Learning Opportunity for All Shiawassee County and Surrounding Area Families

August 1, 2012 – Ovid Elsie Area Schools has entered into a unique partnership with Baker College of Owosso and Connections Learning to provide area middle and high school families with a new learning opportunity. Great Lakes Online Schools will open this fall and give students the option to take all of their classes online, or a portion of them online while dual enrolling at Ovid Elsie Area Schools and Baker College.

The Great Lakes Online Schools will provide each student with their own laptop computer, materials and highly qualified teachers and staff to support their learning needs. The new Academic Enrichment Center located on the beautiful Baker College campus will give students a brick and mortar home for access to additional academic support and socialization.

The school features self-paced instruction and a personalized learning plan for each student. Online tutoring and additional support is available with a touch of a button. Course selection includes nineteen advanced placement classes and seven foreign language options. The school is fully accredited by NCA/AdvancEd and meets all of NCAA eligibility requirements. High School students will also have the opportunity to earn college credit through Baker College and Ovid Elsie’s long standing dual credit agreement.
